They even offer a three semester paramedic program once a year. For this program classes are held twice a week. Mondays from 1:30pm to 6:30pm and Wednesdays from 4pm to 6:30pm. In order to qualify for this program you must have a high school diploma or equivalent, have a current EMT basic certification, have a valid license in the state of Florida, pass a background check, apply to the school and complete an interview with the director of the EMT programs.
Once you have been accepted into the EMT programs you will need to take a physical exam. After you have successfully completed the course work you will be able to take the state exam. When you pass the exam you will become a registered EMT paramedic.
Stony Brook University
Stony Brook University offers a paramedic program that requires you to complete 696 hours of clinical experience at one of the local hospitals. In order to get into the program you must have a high school diploma, be at least 18 years of age, complete a personal interview, pass a medical knowledge test and have your EMT basic certification. For those who qualify, housing and financial aid are available.
